The Dalhousie Tigers have added centre Mike Shoveller to their roster for the upcoming 2018-19 AUS men’s basketball season.

The six-foot-11 Shoveller joins the Tigers after four seasons with Queen’s Gaels of the OUA. He averaged 11.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game last season after taking the 2016-17 season off to recuperate from a torn ACL.

He joined Team Canada at the 2018 Commonwealth Games this past April, helping lead them to a silver medal finish in Australia’s Gold Coast.

Shoveller is a familiar name at Dalhousie. The annual Rod & Joan Shoveller Memorial Men’s Basketball Tournament is named in honour of his grandparents.

A native of Arnprior, Ont., Shoveller was the recipient of the Marc Alessio Memorial Scholarship last year and recently graduated with a degree in political science from Queen’s. He will begin the Master of Public Administration program at Dalhousie this fall.
