With just over a month until the big day, holiday crafters markets are now in full swing. Other than an incredible selection of local handmade goods, many offer delicious homemade food and drinks. Here are five local artisans to look out for this season.
1. Gateaux Rose
As delicious as they are stunning, the cake and cupcakes by Gateaux Rose are beyond words. That buttercream alone is worth all my money. This season find her at the Dartmouth Makers Winter Market with cookies, cupcakes and just about the cutest gingerbread houses I’ve ever seen.
2. Honey & Butter
With a name like Honey & Butter, you know you’re in for a treat. From gorgeous custom cakes to her infamous OMF brownies, whatever Honey & Butter is selling, you want it. Catch her at the Dartmouth Makers Winter Market as well as various market pop ups around the city.
3. King & North
Makers of small batch chocolate and bonbons in intriguing flavour combinations, King & North tempts the taste buds with bold chocolates like the cookie and caramel bar or mint meltaways. With tables at both the Halifax Crafters Society and Dartmouth Makers Winter Markets, you’ll have double the opportunity to get your hands on their unique chocolates. www.facebook.com/kingandnorth/
4. Low Point Coffee Co.
All that holiday shopping can leave you feeling tired. Luckily Low Point Coffee Co.’s cold steeped brew will give you all the fuel you need. Find them slinging their cold brew at both winter markets.
5. Lake City Cider
For the hard to buy for on your list, Lake City Cider offers the perfect solution. With several varieties of locally crafted cider made with 100 per cent Nova Scotian apples, you’ll be tempted to wrap a can for yourself.
