Our Herald in Education (HIE) program provides teachers with newspapers to meet curriculum objectives in their classrooms, helping students improve their reading, spelling, writing abilities as well as critical thinking skills. Last year we placed over 400,000 print and electronic editions of The Chronicle Herald in the hands of students in our province.
News Media Canada offers curriculum overviews highlighting areas in which newspapers can be used to acheive grade appropriate learning outcomes from Grade 4 to Grade 12. Subjects include English, Social Studies, Communication Studies, Law and more, providing schools a resource for incorporating newspapers into their teaching. Learn more here.
Corporate and private sponsorship is vital to ensure continued delivery of newspapers to schools at a discounted rate, or in some cases 100% funded to schools in need. For more information, or to become a corporate or private sponsor of newspapers for schools throughout Nova Scotia please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
